9.1 Relative Construction Methods

In ArchiCAD 9, relative construction method buttons are available in the Control Box to make the creation of special directions (Parallel, Perpendicular, etc.) easier.

In ArchiCAD 10, Guide Lines is a new feature which gives you a lot more options and flexibility in the creation of these special directions. These Guide Lines are visible during the current input or editing operation and disappear when it is finished.
In the Work Environment Dialog, you can configure all kinds of aspects of the behavior and appearance of these Guide Lines.
You can also switch them off altogether, and display the Control Box in ArchiCAD 10 to continue working with older methods.

9.2 Element Snaps

In ArchiCAD 9, when dragging an Element (e.g. a Wall), its nodes can be snapped to nodes of other elements only if you drag them by that node.
In ArchiCAD 10, you can start dragging an element by any point and its nodes can be snapped to nodes and edges of other elements. This can reduce the number of steps required to drag an element exactly to its desired location.

9.3 Numeric editing

In ArchiCAD 9, numeric editing is done in the Coordinate Box. If you double-click into the X/Y/Z/A/R fields or press their shortcut key, you can enter numeric values during input of element modification.
In ArchiCAD 10, the Tracker is the primary interface element for numeric input and editing. Pressing the above mentioned shortcut keys will let you input values in the appropriate fields of the Tracker. You can still display the Coordinate Box on your interface, but in case the Tracker is shown, it will be the preferred position for these operations.
Alternately, you can disable the Tracker in the Work Environment Dialog, and display the Coordinate Box to continue working as in ArchiCAD 9.

9.4 Gravity options

In ArchiCAD 9, Gravity options are available from the Coordinate Box.

In ArchiCAD 10, you can continue displaying and using the Coordinate Box, but Gravity Options are also available from the Tracker. You can access it by pressing one of the R/A/X/Y keys, or you can simply press the shortcut key for Gravity to activate it without entering the Tracker. The Gravity function is also available from the Standard Toolbar.
