How to spread Quickviews in TeamWork on ArchiCAD 7.0
Issue
It's a common problem, that certain views of the publication sets created by the Team Leader are 'lost' when other team members try to use them.
Cause
The publication sets are based on Quickviews, but Quickviews created by the Team Leader are not shared with the other team members.
Solution
Workaround:
Every team member has his own set of Quickviews stored in his project specific preferences file (this preferences file is called 'username_projectname.prf' on Windows and 'username_Projectname.Prefs' on Mac). However, Quickviews created by the Team Leader with exclusive access are also stored in the project file (.pla). To access these Quickviews, team members have to delete their preferences files before Sign-in. Their personal Quickviews will be gone, and they will receive the Team Leader's set of Quickviews.
Working on a large team work file, we suggest the following working method for sharing Quickviews and Publication sets:
- Create a virtual team member that will always implement the modifications as Team Leader signed in with exclusive access (since if two different members sign in as Team Leader intermittently, they overwrite each other's Quickviews).
- Only Team Leaders signed in with exclusive access should create project-Wide Quickviews and Publication sets.
If team members want to access the new Quickviews, they should delete their TeamWork preferences file.
- Team members must be aware of that their personal settings will be lost, when they delete their preferences file
Note: This workaround applies only for ArchiCAD 7.0. In ArchiCAD 8 the problem is solved by the 'Viewsets'
