How do I create a detail from another drawing?

Select the Detail Tool.

Make sure:

  1. The Detail drawing method is NOT set to the left-most (dummy) option. Any other will allow you to draw the shape of your "cut" detail.
  2. The Detail it set to "create new detail" not "link to existing detail."
  3. The Detail has a distinguishable name and number, so you can tell them from other details.

Now you should be able to draw the outline of your detail. A new Detail will appear in your Project Map. If you open it, it will contain a 2D copy of the contents of the detail outline you just drew.

How do I create an independent detail?
