Problem: I just loaded ArchCAD 10 on a new PC with Windows XP. Archicad was never installed on this computer before. However Archicad crashes on start up. The splash screen comes up then crashes. ArchiCAD 9 runs great on the computer.
Solution: We found that the crash was caused the presence of wxvault.dll on computers where Trusted Platform module (TPM) is enabled. (see what TPM is: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trusted_Platform_Module ) We advise to remove the software this dll file depends on. This is "Embassy Trust Suite" (http://www.wavesys.com/products/ets.html) that is part of McAfee's spamkiller solution. Very frequently this is pre-installed on new Dell machines, which have TPM module enabled.
Please run a search for wxvault.dll - if it exists, then it's time to uninstall the truss suite.
