We found the following problem on OS X.2. when using ArchiCAD's TeamWork functions:
if the TeamWork project is located on a computer running Mac OS X 10.2.x and a team member Sends & Receives changes, other members will no longer be able to Send & Receive changes; a warning will appear stating that the project could not be found and it has to be located manually. However, if the project is located manually, another warning will appear stating that the .ADM file could not be opened.
This is because the system does not let ArchiCAD to change the ADM file that is necessary for Sending & Receiving changes.
The problem originates in some changes that Apple introduced from OS X.2. in the handling of file ownership and permissions.
Suggested workaround:
All TeamWork users should start ArchiCAD by using our downloadable Launch ArchiCAD in TW-safe mode droplet:
simply drop ArchiCAD (the application) onto this AppleScript droplet.
ArchiCAD will now start up in a way that will allow all users to Send & Receive changes without error messages.
- The applet remains in front so you need to switch to ArchiCAD manually (i.e. from the dock).
- To run several copies of ArchiCAD at the same time, you need to make copies of the applet and save them with different names.
Note: this droplet was created to replace the formerly suggested workaround with Terminal.
Important: ArchiCAD has to be started with this droplet before sharing a project. If the project is already shared, use the Finder to give everyone Read & Write privileges to all TeamWork files. Don't forget to only use ArchiCAD TeamWork that were all started with this droplet in the manner described above.
