In case of Casement type Window of the ArchiCAD Library, the following option may be chosen:
In the Custom Setting Tab Page in the Window Settings Dialog, the Sash Style can be set to 'Custom Grill'. On this same page, the 'Mullions edited by Hotspots' checkbox can be checked. In this case, the user can set the length of each individual Mullion.
But, in case the Height of Width of the Window Object is modified, the lengths of Mullions will not automatically adjust based on the change of length of the Window. Here is why:
When someone creates a Window and uses Custom Grills with editable Mullions, the sizes and ends of all mullions are under the direct control of the user. So they will remain the size they were set. This is the point: they must remain their size, because if they try to be smart, they might not change the way the user wanted them and then they have to be set again.
So there were two choices when these Objects were designed:
- Mullions try to be smart and change when the Window size changes.
- Mullions are under the control of the user and they change only if he changes them.
Graphisoft Development chose option 2. and this is reflected in their current behavior.
This requires some thinking on the part of the user. The suggested working method is the following:
- User changes sizes of Windows.
- When the size of Windows is probably not going to change, he changes to Custom Grid with Hotspot-editable Mullions.
- User changes lengths of individual Mullion.
This way unnecessary extra work can be avoided.
