TechTip of the Month Contest Winner of August 2003:
Darren Noble's tip on the customizing of the Info Box in ArchiCAD!
"(...)
If you go to the Options menu > Customize > Info box. You can set the order of what is displayed in your Info Box for all your tools. eg. If the slab tool is selected you can have the Materials set to the top if you want. Bliss!!!"
This tip is a reminder of a feature that can make using ArchiCAD even easier for different projects:
- Open the Options Menu, choose Customize and select Info Box... from the appearing options.
- The upcoming Info Box Customization dialog will then list all the information panels available for the current tool.
Select the Info Panel (e.g. Materials) that you would like to display at the top of the Info Box, move the cursor over the up/down arrow to the left of its name until the cursor changes, and simply use Drag&Drop to move it up or down the display order list. (see image below)
- If you don't want to see certain panels of a Tool in the Info Box, just click on the eye beside the panel's name (similar to the Layer settings dialog) to hide it.
- You can have different settings for each tool, just select the tool to change from the pull down menu at the top of the dialog, and change the display order of its Info Panels to your liking.
- By choosing OK, the dialog will be closed and your settings will be saved.
- If at anytime you'd want to reset a Tool's (or all Tools') settings to the default, just click on the appropriate button in the very same dialog. (Reset default state for selected tool/Reset default state for all tools)
Hint: If you have plenty of monitor space, e.g. two monitors, you might want to consider dragging the Info Box to the second monitor and opening it to its maximum extent - some feel it is necessary to see all settings of a tool at the same time.
