In the Publisher, there are three printing-related buttons: Print Setup, Print Settings and Print Options. They appear when 'Print' is set for Publishing method in the View Set Publishing Properties Subdialog of the Publisher. When there are folders/drawings selected in the right-side field of the Publisher Dialog, these buttons become active (ungrayed). But, in case there is no printer installed on the system, pushing any of them will not result in any action on part of the program, leaving the user wondering what can be wrong.
Under Windows, there is no error message informing the user about the source or possible resolution of the problem (no installed system printer). Of course, if there is a printer driver installed, this problem promptly disappears.
On Mac OS X, the appropriate Dialog will come up. It will inform the user that there is 'No printer selected', then will automatically select a default printer and will set it up so it can be used.
